Eternal blessings of Living Water

Eternal blessings of Living Water

Living water is phrase that can be found in different books throughout the Bible. However, there four main instances that hold significance. Two of these instances are in the Old Testament and two are in the New Testament.

One of the early examples of Living water in the Bible comes from Jeremiah 2:13 where God says, “my people have committed two sins: they have forsaken me, the spring of the Living Water and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”

What God is saying in Jeremiah 2: 13 is that the Israelites had abandoned Him not only for a dysfunctional but useless god, they, the Israelites chose to discount their blessings by going after the little gods in the land that God had given to them.

Like the Israelites, each of us has a choice today. We can seek blessings from lesser gods, or we can seek blessings from God of the Living Water. Unfortunately, many people in our generation are not making better choices than the ancient Israelites did even though our generation has advantage over ancient Israel! Not only do we have their examples to learn from, but we also have example from the Lord Jesus who came to show us the way, the truth, and the life. – John 14: 6.

Blessing can simply be described as unseen forces, summoned to heaven, and sent to earth to support the beneficiary to succeed, even where others fail. Blessing is therefore one of the gifts from God released to assist His children.

Likewise, what do we mean when we talk about Living Water? Living water in the physical sense is the kind of water that is coming from a spring or stream. However, Living Water in the spiritual sense is the presence of the Holy Spirit with the symbol of salvation and His enablement in the life of a true child of God. It is He who guides, corrects, empowers, and disciplines a true child of the Living God.

Like we discussed in our Bible Class a couple of weeks ago, many people in our world today are ignorant about God and of God! These people do not know about God, much more to talk about knowing the Almighty God.

And this is where you and I come in. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are commanded to care for these Spiritual infants. We are required to love them, we are required to teach them the Word of God, we are commissioned to pray for them, we are commanded to preach the Word of God to them, we are required to encourage and assist them to come to the saving knowledge of the Living God!

In the book of John chapter 4: 7-15 we read about a woman who went to the well to draw water. The Bible said that this woman went to the well in the noon time. Usually, people go to fetch water early in the morning or around evening time.

I believe that Jesus had pre-arranged arranged this divine meeting between Him and the woman. I pray you will not miss your divine appointment in Jesus’ name. Living Water in the spiritual sense has several benefits.

When Jesus engaged the woman in a conversation at the well, He did so to open her eyes to her need for the Living Water. Every living soul needs salvation to avoid going to hell. 2nd Corinthians 4:4 says: “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of God.”

Jesus being the source of the living water gives life and eternal life as well. Romans 6: 23 says: “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

May the spirit of the His living water fill our hearts, souls, and minds to carry us till the end. Amen.

Is Your Heart Willing?

Many times, we find ourselves in positions where we have to do things that we are not really interested in.  It happens more often amongst the people of God.  The Church needs to set up a committee and a leader is needed, then you find no one wants to be the leader.  Somehow someone reluctantly takes the challenge while deep down inside they are not interested.  Quite often you find that it will take a special grace of God for…

Bless The Lord Oh My Soul

One song that keeps recurring in my soul these days is the song that we sing often and that has its root in the songs of David.  “Bless the Lord Oh my Soul” – Psalm 103:1a (KJV).  This song is a song that comes forth from the deepest part of one’s heart.  It is a song that comes forth because of deep reflection.  I am not sure about you, but sometimes I have found myself in a deep reflection such…

Guided By The Counsel Of God

It is always God’s pleasure to guide His children in the best way that He has cut out for their life’s journey. He leads us step by step, day by day, into His glorious plan for our lives. He has promised to do so, and He is always faithful to His Word. “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”…

Life In Christ

John 14:19b says, “Because I live, you also will live.”  As Christians, our entire life is predicated on living in Christ.  This life in Christ is also entirely based on how we see Christ.  In fact, the whole of John 14:19 reads “Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.” Because we are people of faith, we look unto Him and we see Him. He is already…

Happy Mothers’ Day

Happy Mothers’ Day to all mothers, expectant mothers, future mothers, and the nurturing mothers out there. As a mother, the song that comes to my mind today is “When I think of the goodness of Jesus and all He has done for me, my very soul shall shout hallelujah, praise God for saving me”. A mother might sing this song coming out of a trial, witnessing what the Lord had done for her through the years; seeing how their children…

Time With Christ

One thing the disciples of Jesus Christ did that made them the disciples we talk about today is that they spent time with their master.  They spent time with the one they followed.  Do we spend time with Christ?  How do we spend time with Christ? To become Christ’s disciples, we must spend time with Him.  Coming from Africa, I have always heard the saying that when a leaf stays long connected to soap then it also becomes soap.  Essentially…

Resurrection: A Centerpiece Of Our Faith

Today we celebrate Christ’s resurrection, the day that our Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead.  The importance of resurrection for Christians cannot be underestimated.  The Word of God made us understand in 1 Corinthians 15:14 that “if there is no resurrection of the dead, not even Christ has been raised; and if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith also is vain.”  In addition to this, as Paul mentioned in 1 Corinthians 15:18-19 “those…

The Reality Of Our Redemption

One of the most important words in the Bible is beautifully captured in one theological word—Redemption. The redemption of the man following his fall from grace to grass is a major Biblical theme that runs through the pages of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. The fall of man was set in motion when Adam (Man’s Federal headship) disobeyed the commandment of God when he listened to the voice of an outlaw spirit, Satan, who is God’s major adversary on…

Taming Our Tongues

Our words are powerful and that is the idea that the Word of God teaches us in the book of proverbs 18:21, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”  Which fruit are we set to eat?  The power of life or the power of death.  Our words are so powerful they can be used to kill or give life.  In the same vein that our words can encourage or…

Showing Gratitude From The Heart

Gratitude is a positive emotion that involves being thankful and appreciative of what is given to us or done for us.  It is also a feeling that spontaneously emerges from within, not simply an emotional response but a choice that we make to be appreciative. Gratitude sometimes does not come easy because there are many times, we look at what we are lacking and think our prayers are not yet answered while ignoring the treasures in front of us. There…

Building Character When Our Faith is Tested

The Webster dictionary defines character as one of the attributes or features that make up and distinguish an individual.  It also calls character moral excellence and firmness.  So, in a lot of ways character can be a choice. It is also something that develops in ways that transcend education, training, or position. You cannot acquire character by reading a book.  As a matter of fact, it is built rather than acquired.  Character is many times used in place of integrity…

From birth to death there is a journey in between and one we all cannot avoid though some walk it longer than others. I will start off on this topic by defining and explaining some basic but very essential steps that will serve as the bedrock to the subject. IT IS FAITH-BASED The Christian journey is not just another trip in life, it is a “faith-based” journey and therefore primarily designed for those whose are referred to as “Christians”; but…
