Wonders of His Love
One of my favorite songs at Christmas is “Joy to the World”, and I love especially the verse that goes: “He rules the world with truth and grace, And makes the nations prove; The glories of His righteousness; And wonders of His love, And wonders of His love, And wonders, wonders, of His love.” Every time I hear or sing the song, it makes me wonder about this wonder of God’s love. So, what are the wonders of His love?…
A DIFFERENT CHRISTMAS
“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere you go…” (Song by Michael Bublé) Christmas means different things to different people: But what does this Christmas really mean to you? Have you had an opportunity to think through it and deeply meditate on what this season may mean? A season for personal check-up Christmas season for me is a moment of personal reflection on my relationship with God, a moment of spiritual check-up and evaluation of my walk with…
Are you living in God’s Glory? You’re God’s Masterpiece!
Psalm 3:3 – “But you, Lord, are a shield around me, my glory, the One who lifts my head high.” David is known to call God very intimate names. In Psalm 27, God is his Light and Salvation. In Psalm 118:14, “The Lord is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.” Of course, Psalm 23 is full of the Covenant identities/names of God. In Psalm 3, God is his shield, defender, and his glory! In doing so, David personalizes the…
The Secret Place of God
The Bible talks of the secret place of God in different areas of the Bible. Sometimes we wonder where exactly this secret place is. Some folks believe it is a place where you can be by yourself and no one else knows you are there. It does make a lot of sense, after all the concept of a secret place speaks to a place that is hidden from the knowledge of others. So, it is not far-fetched if the mention…
Through All The Changing Scenes Of Life
The preacher says God has made everything beautiful in its time (Ecclesiastes 3:11). While our seasons and circumstances in life may go through changes, our God remains the same, and He will make even our painful circumstances beautiful in its own time. The changing times of our lives are sometimes difficult to deal with. Depending on how far I look back I can see many changes in my personal and spiritual life. Some of these changes are pleasant and some…
LOOK UP
In this life, we all go through some struggles, troubles, or problems. For example, we have illnesses, job losses, immigration matters, and relationship issues either through our spouses, children, or co-workers. The book of Ephesians 6:12 says that “for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” In such a time like this and when these situations…
Our Firm Foundation
I always remember that passage in John 14:15 that says, “if you love me keep my commandments”, and I wonder what the things are that keep us from obeying His commandments. Many times, it is because we have conflicting or competing instructions. And we decide to follow the other one because the root of our knowledge of the God we serve, or our faith is not deep enough. So, this makes it very easy for any wind of thought to…
A Multinational And International Church
It does not matter what language is used, God’s desire is for all nations and all people to worship Him in truth and in spirit. When we remember Pentecost, we find that while God created us in His own image, this image of God is multinational, multiethnic, multicultural, and multilingual. We read in Acts 2 how the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost in the form a violent blowing wind from heaven. After what looked like tongues of fire rested on…
Our Children, Our Future
In the old Roman world, they did not think much of children. In those days there were many cases of infanticide and child abandonment. Christians of the first century had their jobs cut out for them trying to save many children who had been abandoned by their parents. In Luke 18:15-17, we read about children who were presented to the Lord Jesus Christ. They were very little children, who were thought very little of. They did not have much value…
What Does It Mean To Praise?
Google defines the word “praise” as, “to express warm approval or admiration of someone or something”. It is synonymous with words such as acclaim, applaud, commend, acclamation, magnify, extol, celebrate, glorify, honor, and worship. My personal definition of praise is the joyful thanking and adoring of God, the celebration of His goodness, grace and mercy. Psalm 150: 6 (NLT) says “Let everything that breaths praise the Lord!” This simply implies that the act of praising is rightfully due to God alone. One…
The Reward of Service
In Mark 10:45, Jesus said that “He did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many. He is our example, so we are called to serve, and not to grab. While service is a self-choice, and a voluntary action, duty or labor is what we are told to do for wages, salaries and other forms of compensations. To serve simply means, to render help to others without an expectation or kickback.…
Is Your Heart Willing?
Many times, we find ourselves in positions where we have to do things that we are not really interested in. It happens more often amongst the people of God. The Church needs to set up a committee and a leader is needed, then you find no one wants to be the leader. Somehow someone reluctantly takes the challenge while deep down inside they are not interested. Quite often you find that it will take a special grace of God for…
